Predictions for Lost
Posted in Favorites on August 6th, 2008
Note: this post is several months old, but I felt that I needed to post it even if it was not finished in order to get my thoughts and ideas about the show out. I also have a Battlestar one that I feel isn’t complete enough to post.
We only have 2 seasons left of Lost which equates to about 24 hours, the final episode of season 3 was one of the most satisfying episode to date and it is beginning to become apparent that the show is winding down, but at the same time, the drama is as rampant as ever. Being a die-hard fan, I have a few predictions as to how things will begin to occur as the show approaches it’s final episode in May of 2010. I don’t listen to any lost podcasts anymore so I’m sure I’m repeating several theories that were already described. The following concerns the final two seasons. Since the story is an arc, there is really no way of telling how fast or how slow things will happen.
- Desmond and Penny figure out that they are being pursued by Sayid (working for Ben), though they have the advantage with their boat, there is no telling how long they can remain under the radar in whatever hamlet they are living in so they set off on Penny’s boat with their baby. The only safe place either of them can think of, were Ben’s wrath surely can not follow is the island. Season 5 will chronicle this journey. They are accompanied by Lapidus, who knows more than he is divulging.
- The majority of season 5 will be spent off the island, exploring the lives of the Oceanic 6 as they make their way back, with flash-forwards to the island. Walt will be instrumental in helping this group return, and other familiar faces will join the group. Kate will be taken along against her will, which will be one of several causes for internal struggle within the group. But Ben will continue to manipulate them and even though his intentions seem decent (much like with season 4), he will begin to show the signs of a second, more sinister plan for the group. Ben will become the bad guy again by season 5’s end and will be the final obstacle in season 6.
- In order to win over the Oceanic 6, Ben will begin divulging information about the nature of the island and the people who have lived on it over the years. This includes the others, Dharma, and some ancient Atlantic-like society.
- Familiar faces will pop back up, Michael will return as a ghost, or whatever the apparitions are, along with Mr. Eko and others.
- It will remain unclear whether or not Jin died, but not for long.
- Someone who is the off the island will be a doppelganger with his or her real self on the island (or vice versa) I’m not 100% sure of how this will work, but I believe it to be Locke or Faraday.
- A few remnants of the Mercenary team are not dead.
- The island begins to deteriorate as some primordial forces begin to try to take it back. This will pit the others, led by John, who want to let nature take its course, against another group, probably containing, or lead by Sawyer and Juliet along with Rose, Bernard and the away team, who explore the old Dharma facilities flipping switches they probably should not have flipped. Again the lines will be blurred between who is good and who is bad, but in the end neither group can win because the island itself is unstable. The only way for order to be reinstated it to bring back the missing pieces — the Oceanic 6.
- Widmore is Magnus or Alvar Hanso, he was on the island for 50-80 years, but in the 50’s or 60’s, was forced off, or decided to leave. He may have turned the frozen donkey wheel, and founded Dharma to provide him with ways to back on. Ben knows of this, and he know exactly how it will play out. Whether or not he will “break the rules” is up in the air, but he will have to make such a decision by the beginning of season 6.
- The island will be back on the radar and Dharma, seeing this as an opportunity to take back what is theirs. will reemerge, causing problems for everyone.
I’ll revisit this post a few times throughout the next two years to see where I am right or wrong and add theories as they begin to present themselves to me. I recommend Lostpedia to answer any question you have about the show, I used to do a lot of editing when it was just starting to grow (around Season 2).

The Haters Club: Part 1: Ron Paul
Posted in Favorites on July 20th, 2008
Lately myself and a friend have been looking a lot at digg, posting comments on stories I usually wouldn’t comment on, namely, ones about Ron Paul. Paul and his supporters are the reason I set digg to not display any political stories. We both think the guy is a joke and an accidental, pseudo-success story, caused mainly by a group of 18 year old stoners. The “Paulites” are apparently constitutionalists, but seem a bit hypocritical when they won’t accept that the people have spoken (by the way, I don’t know who I’m voting for yet). I also feel that a lot of Paul’s ideas are Luddite and the man himself is an anachronism. I also believe that, were he to win the presidency, firstly, he would be unable to incite the changes he says he wants to; and secondly, his presidency would be the worst thing that happened to the government since old hickory took office.
This is why I am taking it upon myself to start the “Bury Old Ron Everywhere” movement (BORE) for short. I know this blog is well read, so the movement should take off. Being a member is easy, whenever you see a story posted on Digg or elsewhere posted, bury it and try to start a flame-war on the comments thread, then duck out.
The banter on “DVDs For Delegates to Elect Ron Paul” is a good example.
I hope to eventually be the most hated group on the internet.
